Before starting to play basketball, Angel Reese’s partner-in-crime had kick-started her journey as a rapper. Flau’jae Johnson debuted at the age of 13 on season three of “The Rap Game.” The then hip-hop prodigy garnered further attention with her appearance on season 13 of “America’s Got Talent” at the age of 14.
Fast forward to today, the 20-year-old has become a rap sensation worth a million dollars and has also signed a deal with Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation. Flau’jae’s hip-hop legacy is derived from her bereaved father and iconic rapper, Jason Johnson a.k.a Camoflauge.
In her recent appearance on ‘The Pivot Podcast’ with Angel Reese, Flau’jae Johnson spoke about her phenomenal journey as a rapper and a ballplayer. The NCAA star chose a music career after she was inspired by the legacy of her father, who was murdered in cold blood.
“I got to an age where I was like, dang they like they took my dad away from me. So I’ma make sure that they never forget it. I am gonna make sure that his name lives on forever because they tried to take it away. So that was always my goal, whatever I do, I make sure I read my father,” said Flau’jae Johnson. The LSU star has added a National Championship to her father’s legacy after a brilliant showing in the tournament.

The tragedy that befell the NCAA star
The LSU Tigers star’s father Jason Johnson, better know by his stage name Camoflauge, had became a sensation in Savannah on the back of his work. Camoflauge was on his journey to becoming a star rapper. The 21-year-old artist was at the Pure Pain Records recording studio to record a song one day. During a break, Johnson went out with his toddler son for a walk when he was shot. He later succumbed to the gunshots at a local hospital in Savannah.

This tragedy befell Flau’jae’s family five months before she was born. On the back of her sensational rap and basketball career, Camoflauge’s daughter has been living up to her father’s name and has already achieved enough to make her dad proud.
