Los Angeles Lakers have been subjected to heavy scrutiny from fans and media. Having said that, there seems to be no relief for the organization as new information has recently come to light. During the 2021-22 season, the Lakers’ supposedly turned down an offer presented to them by the Toronto Raptors. With this in mind, fans were consumed by confusion.

Supposedly, at the trade deadline of last season, the Toronto Raptors approached the Lakers with a deal. The Raptors wanted Talem Horton-Tucker from the Lakers. In exchange, the Lakers would receive a first-round draft pick and Raptors’ center Khem Birch. However, the Lakers declined. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin believes that while Birch wouldn’t have been the best fit in the roster, that first-round pick is so valuable, and it?s why they?re (Lakers) so hamstrung with what they can pursue right now.??

Eventually, the Lakers traded Horton-Tucker to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Patrick Beverley. In hindsight, much like the opinion of McMenamin, fans believe that a first-round draft pick would have been more beneficial than the Beverley trade.?

The Lakers are on a three-game winning streak. Despite this, the team are placed 13th on the Western Conference table. However, the fans find some relief in the recent performance of their star Anthony Davis. While shooting 55.4% from the floor, for Davis the aim is to fill the void created by the absence of 4-time NBA champion LeBron James.
