As if winning four NBA championships, two MVP awards, and various other honors weren’t enough, Stephen Curry adds another title to his collection after being awarded Sports Illustrated’s 2022 Sportsperson of the Year for the first time. Steve Kerr has been the head coach of the Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry for almost eight years. However, the 9-time NBA champion recently revealed an observation about Curry that reminded him of the legend himself, Michael Jordan.

Kerr won three out of his nine NBA titles with the mighty Chicago Bulls in 1996, 1997, and 1998. During his tenure with the Bulls, Kerr noticed that whenever they have to play an away game, Michael Jordan made sure to give the fans a moment to remember. Years after Jordan, Kerr saw the same responsibility in Stephen Curry.
According to Kerr, Curry deeply cares about the fans and made sure that they get to see the prime of Curry every time. Linking the common qualities between Jordan and Curry, Kerr said, “They feel responsible.”?

Stephen Curry earned this title not just because of his on-court excellence, but also because of his off-court impact. With his excellent three-point shooting, Curry has arguably revolutionized the sport of basketball. He has led the Golden State Warriors to four NBA championships in the last eight years. Curry averaged 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game in the 2022 Finals, leading the Warriors to win their fourth championship by defeating the Boston Celtics.

Off the court, Curry and his wife Ayesha have been very active when it comes to giving back to society. The couple has donated and contributed to multiple charity organizations through their foundation to help millions of people so far.

In the current NBA season, Curry has been the leading scorer for the Warriors so far. He has continued his domination this season with 30.0 points, 7.0 assists, and 6.6 rebounds per game. The Warriors currently sit in the 10th position in the Western Conference, with a 13-12 record for the season.
