Los Angeles Lakers are off to a poor start to the new campaign. Despite so many changes to the roster ahead of the 2022-23 season, the Lakers have found themselves in the place. Russell Westbrook has failed to settle in and has been criticized by many for his lack of consistency. However, he didn’t feature in the loss to Denver Nuggets and it only proves that the Lakers have deeper problems to tackle. LeBron James hasn’t had a 0-4 start in his whole NBA career since his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Former NBA star Vince Carter feels the Lakers are not doing justice to LeBron.

Vince Carter, who played for eight different franchises during his time in the NBA, feels that LeBron has been constantly stepping up for the Lakers. However, he also wants the Lakers to reciprocate the same to him.
Here’s what Carter had to say, “LeBron James since he’s been in LA has done everything for the Laker organization, has saved the day, been the hero, cleaned up their mess. When will the Lakers do that for him now at this point in his career?”
Vince Carter’s statements went viral on social media, sparking reactions from NBA fans. Some fans even compared the present Lakers situation to Kobe Bryant‘s final years with the Lakers, when they set franchise losses record.
NBA Twitter reacts to Vince Carter’s statements on LeBron James and the Lakers
NBA fans surely didn’t want Kobe Bryant’s final years to be wasted as they happened. However, the Lakers still have time to build a competitive roster to fight for their 18th again.
Following are some of the best reactions to Vince Carter’s statements:
Nothing they are doing the same thing they did to Kobe

Nothing, Jeanie’s just milking him to sell tickets and to have him pass Kareem in a Lakers jersey, that’s all she cares about

He could do us a solid and ask to be traded. Then we move AD and Westbrook and reboot this thing. No trade is going to elevate the current team to contender status.

LeBron James has featured in all four games for the Lakers this season. He is currently averaging 25.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game. However, he averaged 30.3 points per game last season for the Lakers, when they failed to reach the playoffs. But James has still got it and his numbers are better than many top players in the NBA.
Vince Carter wants Anthony Davis to step up
The Lakers brought in Anthony Davis to help LeBron James in winning a championship. So he did, back in 2020. However, ever since, there has been a downfall in his performance, particularly due to injury problems. Vince Carter recently gave his opinion on the Lakers’ shooting problems this season.
Carter said, “I think it falls in AD’s lap more so than LeBron. … You’re expecting LeBron to save the day again. … If he’s trying to save the day now, what LeBron will you get at the end of the year?”

Anthony Davis surely has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. He is averaging 24.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals in 4 games this season. These numbers are surely an improvement from last season. But Davis has to be more involved and is expected to take some weight off LeBron James.
