The Brooklyn Nets are on the verge of losing it all. The first blow came with Kevin Durant requesting a trade. In addition, even though Kyrie Irving opted in, he is trying to find his way out as well. However, the Nets seem to be ignoring this situation. Fans were left in utter shock by Brooklyn’s strategy in free agency.

With Durant and Irving both on the market, the Nets have to be clever. Both superstars can fetch huge trade value and in turn benefit Brooklyn with their exit. KD is a 12-time All-Star and arguably one of the most dangerous weapons in basketball. On the other hand, teams would likely kill to have a crafty scorer like Kyrie Irving don their jersey. Hence, the situation may not be as bad for the Nets just yet. But with their strategy in free agency, Brooklyn looks like a team with different plans.

Recent reports shocked the entire NBA fanbase as the Nets are making moves to keep Irving and Durant as a part of their plans.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving staying?

After three disappointing seasons with the duo, Durant seemingly wants to move ahead. The former MVP has his eyes on some top teams to help him win. As for Kyrie, the seven-time All-Star wants a longer contract. However, after his irregular role throughout the season, the Nets are hesitant to offer anything long-term. And heavy rumors are coming in about Kyrie making a shift to the Los Angeles Lakers. While the reports put forward a future without the two megastars, the Brooklyn Nets aren’t writing off anything just yet.

According to Shams Charania, Brooklyn is keeping Durant and Kyrie for the next season at least. Their free agent moves revolve around their superstar duo staying together. Kyrie Irving has already opted into his $36.9 million player option which keeps him in for his final year. On the other hand, Kevin Durant will have his massive extension kick in next season. Hence, the Nets hold the leverage to keep the scoring monster for at least four more years. But if the Nets can play this card, both Irving and Kevin Durant can do their own damage as well.

In the recent past, players have been able to force their way out with ease. Former teammate, James Harden managed to do so with the Houston Rockets. Similarly, nothing will potentially stop KAI and KD from taking the same approach. Hence, it could go down both ways.
