Stephen Curry has established himself as one of the greatest players ever. With his game style and swagger, the two-time MVP has made millions of fans worldwide. However, that wasn’t always the case for Curry. He has gone through his fair share of trials and tribulations to be where he is today.

While discussing the matter with former President Barack Obama at an event for the ‘Obama Foundation’, Steph revealed how he struggled with self-confidence growing up. Obama and Curry started the discussion with some playful banter.

Obama told Curry to speak about his struggles with his ankle during the early years of his NBA career. This left the hall in splits and Curry acknowledged that he didn’t have any comeback for that. Then, Steph opened up about his struggles. He said, “I think my major struggle was the self-confidence, to be honest with you.

Stephen Curry struggled with self-confidence

Stephen Curry said people expected him to have a journey similar to his father, Dell. He went on to mention how self-confidence was an issue for him not just on the court, but in life in general.

He said, “I had the talent and the skill set but the confidence to get over that hump was a process, and I had to rely on the community that was around me to get me through that.

Curry always advises people to be their own biggest fans out there but it is easier said than done. “The village that was around me were my biggest supporters in trying to allow me to understand what I was capable of, to not back down from any challenge“, revealed Curry.

The Golden State Warriors star also stated that it was hard work that got him to where he is today. He said, “The swagger and the confidence you see on the court right now, it wasn’t always there,”?

It took me a minute to get there, but I had to continue to grind“, Curry said. He told everyone there to keep fighting and the results would come eventually.
