The NBA World geared up for Day 2 of the All-Star Weekend while the arena bustled with excitement. The stars spoke to the media and dabbled in mischief. As they went about the day, legends of the game graced the occasion with fancy and funky outfits. Shaquille O’Neal wore a black turtleneck with a silver blazer and paired it with a black hat. He wore square-framed glasses and waited for the dunk contest because he had his pick ready.

Days before the weekend, Shaq declared that while nobody in the league cared about the contest, he made a bold claim. He said, “A guy that’s not even in the NBA is gonna win a dunk contest.” The four-time NBA Champion’s words came true while Stephen Curry and several others found themselves in awe of a 24-year-old who is on a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Mac McClung was going to win the dunk contest; Shaq called it days ago as per USA Today. But little did the four-time NBA Champion know that McClung was going to take the league by storm. The 24-year-old flaunted his high school and Philadelphia 76ers jersey while he stared at the basket. His body language portrayed determination, he was going to make this opportunity count. He dribbled, ran towards the paint, soared high up, and spun mid-air. Following this, he slammed the ball into the basket, leaving the arena in pure astonishment. He bagged perfect scores on all his attempts and lifted the Julius “Dr. J” Erving slam dunk trophy.

Stephen Curry, Magic Johnson, and the rest of the NBA World left in shock

After his final dunk, McClung celebrated like Vince Carter. He yelled “it’s over” while NBA Stars gasped and rushed to celebrate McClung’s glory. Shaquille O’Neal recorded his reaction and repeatedly said, “What was that? What was that? Let’s go home, it’s over.” Following this, Stephen Curry took to Twitter and stated that while McClung was still making his way through the league, he was “unreal”.

Los Angeles Lakers Legend Magic Johnson claimed that the rising star had singlehandedly “saved the slam dunk contest”. Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was watching it from courtside, gasped and stared at McClung in disbelief. NFL Legend Shannon Sharpe rushed to Twitter and wrote, “It’s a WRAP. McClung just ended the nite in SPECTACULAR fashion.”

While the players reacted to McClung’s performance, fans rushed online to comment about the same. They declared that a new superman had entered the league. They drew similarities between the 24-year-old star and Vince Carter. Fans expressed their disbelief with gifs and emojis. Here are all the reactions:
