As the injury worries mount for LeBron James & Co, the Los Angeles Lakers are in desperate need of steadying the ship. As the number of injuries increase, the trade rumors surrounding the team also simultaneously increased. Most notably, the fans witnessed rumors involving King James as well. However, a recent Lakers trade rumor involving two free agents sparked the NBA Twitter. The fans went haywire on Twitter, expressing their opinions.

The recent injuries massively impacted the Lakers’ performance. During their last outing against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers had six players unavailable for selection due to injury. The team missed stars like LeBron James, Patrick Beverley, and Anthony Davis during the game. The team, in turn, squandered a terrible loss against the Nuggets (122-109).

Amid the injury worries, a Bleacher Report article stated that DeMarcus Cousins could have a tryout with the Lakers camp in the first week of January. Currently, Cousins is a free agent since he left the Nuggets in 2021. Buts, there hasn’t been any official update yet regarding the tryout. Additionally, Shams Charania, a senior NBA insider for The Athletic revealed that Meyers Leonard could also work out with the team. Notably, both of the stars haven’t played a single NBA game since 2021.

 

The Miami Heat parted ways with Meyers Leonard following his anti-Semitic comments on a Twitch stream in 2021. Following the incident, Leonard has been a free agent.

However, following the news, the fans took to Twitter with varied opinions on the comments. While certain sections of fans welcomed the news, some trolled the team. One user said, “The Lakers have reached peak desperation.” Following are some reactions from NBA Twitter.

The Lakers are currently in the 13th seed of the Western Conference points table with a (19-23) record. Though the Purple and Golden team started off the year with five consecutive wins, they are in need of a few more winning combinations to rise up in the table. As a positive, Anthony Davis has been showing encouraging progress in his recovery. The Lakers could soon see him on the hardwood.
