Suga from BTS has been named the new ambassador for the NBA. The league and the South Korean rapper, songwriter and producer announced their collaboration in a video posted to the NBA’s official social media platforms today. Suga thanked the league and celebrated being appointed an ambassador in the video, stating it is “personally a great honor” for him because he has loved basketball since he was a small boy.
As this news spread online, BTS fans went absolutely berserk. Suga’s responsibilities as the ambassador will include interacting with NBA fans throughout the world. He will take part in a number of league initiatives, including watching games and events in the United States and Asia and, of course, taking part in promotional activities.

Suga’s passion for basketball has already been on display. He was photographed at the Dallas Mavericks – Los Angeles Lakers game in January. Additionally, Suga and Stephen Curry crossed paths in Japan in September 2022 during a game between the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards at the NBA Japan Games 2022. Suga’s involvement in league activities and events would surely increase its recognition in Asia, where basketball is a well-liked sport.

The NBA collaborated with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh to act as their brand ambassador for Indian audiences in a similar move in 2021. Suga’s participation was directly a result of the decision. Ranveer Singh, one of India’s most well-known actors, attended the NBA 2022 All-Star weekend in Cleveland and took part in a variety of league initiatives, including being featured on NBA Style, an Instagram account for Indian basketball fans that focuses on lifestyle.
