The Lakers no. 32 was very young when he entered the NBA. Straightaway he garnered the interest and respect of seniors in the team, like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The Los Angeles Lakers and their fans were absolutely in love with Johnson as he ruled the courts. With Abdul-Jabbar by his side, the Lakers were unstoppable in their era.

All this winning was cause for celebration, which went a little overboard at times. Magic Johnson is married to Cookie Johnson. In a recent documentary, she narrated how his pool parties were extremely frequent. These raised concerns for Cookie, which caused a rift between the two for a while.

“A lot of the wives weren’t happy their husbands were there and they weren’t invited!” said Cookie. She further added, “You need to grow up, you can’t keep doing these things. And I kept talking to him saying, ‘I can’t believe you’re doing this.’ And he’s like, ‘I can’t believe you’re making a big deal over nothing.’ So we had this huge fight again, ‘if you give this party, that’s it.’ ”

Cookie explained that at the time, by Johnson’s behavior she felt that it really “was it!” and they could be separated. Four decades later, Cookie Johnson and Magic Johnson are still happily married. But the Lakers legend’s partying habits could’ve cost him the love of his life.

The Lakers and their partying habits weren’t only limited to Johnson. The whole squad and roster enjoyed the LA life to its fullest. Cookie Johnson also revealed how Pat Riley used to take care of the squad.

She mentioned how the wives of the players were not allowed to travel with the team in the postseason. This rule was put in place to maintain their focus, and the players would be fined heavily for any breach of rules.
