In July 2016, the NBA changed forever when Kevin Durant decided to sign for the Golden State Warriors. The news shook the league to its core. It even impacted the larger sports world as the great Serena Williams was admittedly shocked by the move. In fact, the thought of Kevin Durant joining an already stacked squad ‘terrified’ her.
The Warriors had just lost the NBA Finals in devastating fashion. In fact, they had a 3-1 lead and were poised to secure arguably the greatest season ever. However, they blew it and were reeling from a humiliating loss. As a result, they had to make a statement that they were not yet done.

Subsequently, they went out and signed arguably the greatest scorer of this generation. Durant started his career for the Oklahoma City Thunder and had made deep playoff runs with the team. However, the elite scorer couldn’t win a chip with the Thunder. Therefore, he decided to make one of the most controversial moves in NBA history and join the Dubs. And the rest is history.
Serena Williams was stunned when Kevin Durant reunited with Stephen Curry
Even tennis legend Serena Williams was stunned when she heard the news of Durant joining the Warriors. Serena was asked what she thought about the move. “That?s crazy“, she said in response. “They are stacked.” However, her face actually said it all. It seemed like she said all the best to the rest of the teams in the NBA.
Incidentally, Curry and Durant had known each other since they were kids. When Durant was a kid, he traveled to play games. There he met Curry, who was his opponent.
He hilariously called him a yellow kid. And when Curry took a short from over 35 feet, Durant thought that there was no way that would go in. And when that went it, Durant couldn’t believe his eyes. Years later, he figured out who Curry was when he came into the league.

And when they reunited again in 2016, they had one of the deadliest combinations in the league and formed one of the greatest duos of all time. The Warrior made three straight Finals and won two titles together. And many say that if Durant wasn’t injured, they would have won three in a row. But when Durant made the move, it shocked everyone, including Serena Williams.
