Those were ample reasons for Bosh to earn a $114 million contract in 2014 with the Miami Heat. Then tragedy struck as the two-time NBA champion had to step aside from playing due to health issues. The Heat then waived his contract at the end of the 2016-17 season and paid deferred payments instead over the next five years.?

Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat finally parted ways after the five-year deal of deferred payments in 120 installments came to a close on the 1st of November, 2022.

The 11-time All-Star was diagnosed with blood clots that traveled to his lungs, soon after his 2014 contract extension. The condition was serious as lung clots can cause problems in breathing, which would be difficult to handle if a problem were to have arisen on-court. And the recurrence of such a situation lead to the Miami Heat waiving his contract in 2017, which still had $52.1 million left in dues.?

Both parties agreed for the contract to be settled over a five-year period, containing 120 installments. Notably, the final installment of $434,393 was paid on the 1st of November 2022, ending the five-year deal.
