Thousands, if not millions of young athletes dream to go pro and play professionally. So for someone to just make it to the big leagues is quite an accomplishment. But what separates those players and the players who go on to become the ?Greats? in their respective fields? Recently, LeBron James? ex-teammate on the Cleveland Cavaliers gave an interesting angle as to what drives such players to strive for greatness.?

Many fans may not have heard of Daniel Gibson. He played only seven seasons in the NBA, all for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Gibson was the team?s backup point guard for the majority of his career and saw LeBron James flourish in front of him.?
What drives the NBA greats?
Recently, Gibson made an appearance on DJ Vlad?s YouTube Channel, ‘Vlad TV.’ DJ Vlad and Gibson started off the discussion by asking him what makes LeBron James the player that he is.?
Gibson credited the talent James already possessed but pinpointed it to the amount of work one puts in to refine their game. And according to him, LeBron James works harder than everybody else in the league.

That is when Vlad brought up Kobe Bryant and his notoriously famous work ethic. That?s when Gibson said, ?I think those guys have a fear of being average. They don?t want nobody to even think that they can match them,? added Gibson.
?So I think, once you put the work in, like that kind of work, it brings confidence. Because you know you?ve been in the gym and you know you?ve been working so you just get out there and do it and play free. You add that with the gifts, ain?t nothing can stop you,? Gibson concluded.
Gibson was with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2006 up until 2013, before James had solidified his legacy in South Beach with the Miami Heat?in 2010. So, he got to see James?first-hand, taking his first steps to superstardom during his time in Cleveland.

What makes LeBron James so great?
Though arguably every player has something or the other that drives them to achieve greatness, what Gibson said about fear being a motivational factor may be what does set apart the greats from the rest of the pack. Kobe was certainly a different breed altogether who worked extensively to perfect his craft.?

James on the other hand was blessed with gifts and talents from the get-go. But that doesn?t mean that ?The King? did not put in the work to improve his game. Notably, James reportedly?spends an average of $1.5 million every year just on his body.?
