The Portland Trail Blazers (19-21) played against the Orlando Magic (16-26) at the Moda Center. One of the highlights of the game was definitely the unreal poster dunk that Damian Lillard blessed the court with. Unfortunately, their bliss didn’t continue with the Magic winning the game, 109-106. The Blazers also instantaneously became the NBA fans’ laughing stock at the end of the game.

The fans slammed the Blazers for not maximizing the opportunities that they got, which may have put them on the winner’s side tonight. What snafu happened at the end?

With 22 seconds left in the game, the Orlando Magic had 109 points while the Portland Trail Blazers had 106 points. But the Blazers had the ball and were in control of the ball majority of the time. And yet they missed multiple opportunities to score at the end of the game. The NBA Twitter mocked the Blazers for the same.

Damian Lillard drove the ball to the basket, but he was too quick with the momentum to dunk the ball. Strike 1. So he swiftly passed the ball to Jusuf Nurkic. Nurkic therein passed it to Jerami Grant who attempted to shoot the ball. Missed. The ball went back to Lillard who passed it to Grant, who passed to Nurkic. He shot the ball. Another miss. But it didn’t end there. The ball was caught by Anfernee Simons who tried to shoot a triple. But his efforts were in vain. The whistle blew and the Magic won.

After the game, Jusuf Nurkic commented that the team has been not “executing”. He believed that they may be operating from a “lack of focus”. Lillard spoke after the game and said, “I?m on the team. So ?breaking? isn?t going to happen. I?ll tell you that right now? That?s not an option for us.

Damian Lillard has been on a tear

Damian Lillard finished the night with 30 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. This is his second consecutive game where he scored 30+ points. It is his 210th game with this feat. He is just one game away from Pete Maravich from rewriting history in this category. The 32-year-old has been averaging 27.4 points, 4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists this season. The 6x All-Star also made it on the NBA All-Star voting list. He is in 7th place among the Western Conference point guards.

Last month, Lillard had another feat, one that put him at the apex of the franchise scoring record. He surpassed Clyde Drexler, the team’s all-time scoring leader. Drexler had 18,040 points for the team and had this record for 27 years. Lillard was “proud” of his achievement.
