The No. 1 prospect of the 2023 NBA Draft has already gained an immense fan following courtesy of his outstanding basketball skills and he continues to garner more attention with each game. While Wembanyama is yet to make it to the NBA, fans and the media have shown great interest in his games ahead of his draft. Meanwhile, Wembanyama’s impossible stunt in a recent Metropolitans 92 game has NBA fans going ‘insane’.
The 7 ft 2-inch power forward has been playing for the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 since 2022 and is already being considered as a potential GOAT candidate. Several NBA teams including the?Charlotte Hornets have been eyeing to draft him ever since, with many even allegedly tanking their games to increase their chances.

The Metropolitans 92’s recent game against the Chorale Roanne took place on January 27 at the Palais des sports Marcel-Cerdan. Victor Wembanyama’s Mets have been on a three game-winning streak until it was stopped by the Roanne. Despite losing the game by 84-102, the 19-year-old basketball star’s blocking tactics was all fans could talk about.

The National Basketball Association’s Twitter handle recently uploaded a clip of Wembanyama applying said tactics and fans are going wild over it. The video shows Roanne’s Stefan Moody dribbling and going for a lay-up while Wembanyama could be seen facing one of his opponents in the completely opposite direction seemingly not paying any attention to Moody. However, just when the Roanne point guard jumped to make his shot, the ‘wonderkid’ turned around in split seconds and blocked his opponent from making the bucket.

Michael Jordan is not willing to tank for the French prodigy
Several teams including the Charlotte Hornets were speculated to have been tanking to secure the No. 1 Draft prospect for the upcoming season. However, several months ago, NBA legend and Hornets’ GM Michael Jordan made it clear that the team would adopt no such tactics. Furthermore, His Airness has apparently stated that no matter where the team stands towards the end of the season, tanking will not be an option.
