But it is also redundant because you?ll hardly find people who don?t know who Michael Jordan is. The six-time NBA Champion has time and again credited a lot of his success to his family. In an interview from 1984, Jordan credited his elder brother for his success and mentality in life.

The Chicago Bulls legend mentioned how his brother?s ?tough love? was one of the reasons he reached the top. The NBA legend might not have loved it back in his childhood, but now, he understood the importance of it.

The 14-time All-Star?s journey to the NBA has been documented by many. Many tried to rationalize how Jordan reached the heights that he did. Michael Jordan was always very close to his family. Further mentioning how he derived different personality traits from them each individual.

Back in 1984, in an interview, Jordan talked about his brother Larry Jordan. The six-time NBA Champion mentioned how his brother gave him a hard time on-court, possibly contributing to the player’s success later in life. The interviewer asked why Larry was the hero in MJ’s life.

?Larry used to be a very talented basketball player, he still is,? said Jordan. He further added, ?And whenever I was about his height, he used to wear me out in the backyard. And I guess from that determination just to beat him, I guess that made me work hard. And you know he?s just an outstanding basketball player.?

The interviewer pointed out how Larry Jordan was not particularly tall as he measured just 5?7?. The legend mentioned how regardless of anything, his brother was an outstanding player, giving a tough time to young MJ.?

In his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech, Jordan levied a huge compliment on his elder brother as he said ?small things come in small packages?. The legend?s life is an amalgamation of many characters and he has rightly credited them throughout his career.

The Chicago Bulls legend didn?t start his career with NBA Championship rings, he had to fight his way through it. The six-time NBA Champion won his first ring in 1991, 7 years after his NBA debut.
