NBA legend LeBron James and tennis icon Serena Williams are arguably two of the greatest athletes of the past two decades. Naturally, they have mutual respect and also are close friends. Williams left a huge mark on Wimbledon, one of the prestigious tennis events, and it is likely that James will keep a close eye on the tournament.

While the fans widely watched the tournament, the LA Lakers star has rarely mentioned Wimbledon.

Four-time NBA champion LeBron James and the Lakers crashed out of the NBA postseason in the Western Conference. Following their heartbreak, the billionaire has been on a Europe tour.

Most notably, James kicked off the 24-hrs Le Mans drive in France. He was also a part of the Louis Vuitton fashion show in Paris, where the King showed off a fancy set of grills.

Interestingly, despite being in Europe this offseason, James is yet to appear on tennis’ grandest stage, Wimbledon.

Tennis legend Serena Williams has left quite a legacy at Wimbledon. She has 14 Wimbledon titles to her name, which makes her an absolute legend of the 146-year-old event. Having once called her ‘dope’, James certainly is aware of her Wimbledon legacy.

With Wimbledon set to commence on July 3rd and King James already in Europe, this might finally be the year the NBA legend visits the iconic sporting institution in person.

James poured his heart out for Williams’ retirement

Serena Williams shocked the sporting world as she announced her retirement in August 2022 after three decades of domination. This had the entire world talking with fans getting emotional about the champion.

James penned a heartfelt message for his good friend, and he also sheds light on the impact Williams has had on tennis. ?Congratulations to you, to an unbelievable career. You are a GOAT. I mean, what you have done for sport, tennis, what you have done for women, and what you have done for the category of sports period it?s unprecedented,” said James.

Moreover, the NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer added a personal note on Twitter. #SerenaWilliams THANK YOU !! You?re so damn DOPE!!”, tweeted the 19-times All-Star. Williams retired with 39 Grand Slam to her name and an everlasting impact on tennis.
