It is difficult to search for superlatives that can justify Novak Djokovic’s greatness as a master of tennis. No matter who the opponent is, the Serbian continues to shatter the glass ceiling. At 36 years old, the relentless superstar somehow keeps getting better. His latest conquest against the comeback player of the year Carlos Alcaraz is one of his many success stories. He earns plaudits from sports personalities across the board. One such personality, Luka Doncic, was also left mesmerized by the tennis phenom.

The number of records that the Serb sensation has broken keeps on piling up. The Slovenian NBA superstar reminded us about one of those records in his IG post.

Luka Doncic gives Djokovic his props

In terms of personal achievements, Doncic has accomplished quite a lot at his age. He is just 24 and finished second in points per game last season(32.2). However, unlike tennis, basketball is a team game, and the lack of support for the Guard meant that he didn’t get to the Postseason stage. Djokovic need not worry about team support to win titles. By the age of 24, he had already nabbed four Grand Slam titles, and he keeps on adding to that tally as he enters his deep 30s. In his story, Doncic reminded us about yet another milestone that puts him on par with another humongous name in the tennis world.

Despite his eye-popping Grand Slam wins, it is only just recently that the Serb managed to win on clay regularly. While he has a whopping ten Australian Open titles, seven Wimbledon titles, three US Open titles, Djokovic has only two French Open championships. However, his latest victory against Alcaraz puts him quite close to his third title. This will cement him as a consistent winner across all surfaces, whether it be clay, grass, or a hard surface. If he wins the finals of the French Open against Casper Ruud, that will take him to 23 Grand Slam titles, one more than Spanish Tennis Legend Rafael Nadal.

Respect is mutual

This is not the first time that Luka Magic has showcased adulation for Novak Djokovic. He had showered praise on the record-breaking tennis player after his Australian Open win as well. The two megastars hugged after Slovenia defeated Serbia in an International game.

The admiration has transpired both ways. The Serbian Great had also lauded Doncic for his mind-numbing 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists performance against New York Knicks in December 2022.
