The NBA world has witnessed Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant getting bundled in various controversies throughout this season. The league even suspended his friends from entering the arena for home games because of an incident off the court. The 23-year-old rising star recently found himself in a possibly career-ending controversy. A former Wizards star, who faced a similar controversy in the past, prompted fans to call out the irony after his statement regarding Moran’ts controversy.

Following the incident, Morant was suspended for at least two games by the Grizzlies. Reportedly, the Grizzlies star displayed a gun at a nightclub during his Instagram live. After the issue, Morant faced heat from all directions of the NBA world. But 3x NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas’ twisted take on the Morant squabble attracted brutal comments from fans.

In a recent podcast episode of Gil’s Arena titled Don’t Mess with Ja, Gilbert Arenas surprised the NBA world with his stance on the gun controversy. When the host asked Arenas to pose as Morant’s owner and react to the issue, the former NBA star pretended as if he ignored whatever happened in front of him. Along with his antics, he also said, “I’m the owner… I’m gonna do what every owner does — pretend I don’t see it.”

The particular insensitive statement surfaced on Twitter and triggered fans with harsh opinions in the comments section.

However, Arenas’ statement reminded the fans of the infamous locker room incident in 2009.

Arenas played a vital role in the Washington Wizards camp for nearly a decade until injuries and the infamous gun controversy put his career to an end. In 2009, The 3x NBA All-Star and his teammate Javaris Crittenton faced suspension for the remainder of the season after a heated altercation in the locker room. Reportedly, Arenas brought an unloaded firearm into the dressing room. However, he played his last NBA game three years after the incident.
