Recently, Paul’s brother David Whelan revealed that the former US marine became unreachable on the occasion of Thanksgiving. However, Whelan finally managed to contact his parents in Metro Detroit on December 2 after warning the prison officials of potential consequences.

In a recent interview, David Whelan revealed that his brother laid out the whole ordeal in front of their parents. He reckoned that the prison authorities hurt themselves by bringing attention to the location of Paul Whelan. The former US marine and another foreign prisoner were surprisingly taken to the prison hospital without any kind of illness.
David Whelan stated, “He and another foreign prisoner at the IK-17 were spirited away with about 90 minutes notice on Thanksgiving (11/24), taken to the prison hospital.”

David Whelan clarified that his brother was taken away to the hospital just to isolate him. He said that the doctor came to check on Paul Whelan on December 2nd. Whelan told the head doctor about having no idea why he was at the hospital. After that, the doctor sent him back to the facility immediately.
Paul Whelan’s boldness ends isolation
David Whelan further stated that Paul was moved to the hospital for the ongoing Wagner mercenary recruiting from the inmates. Thus, the prison in charge possibly ordered to send Paul and the other foreign prisoner to the hospital. Moreover, David Whelan said, “Paul warned the prison staff that isolating him on Thanksgiving and over our dad’s birthday would send our family to Defcon 1”
