The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Boston Celtics in the opening game of their first-round series. Kyrie Irving had a game-high 39 points but still couldn’t get the better of his old team. Celtics won 115-114 on a last-second buzzer-beater by Jayson Tatum. But the major talking point about the game was the constant back and forth between Kyrie and the Boston fans, which ultimately resulted in an abusive response from him while going to the locker room after the game.

Kyrie had a tumultuous time when he was in Boston for two years before eventually leaving them in the 2019 free agency for the Nets. He also faced strong reactions from fans last year when he came to Boston to play for the Nets. Kyrie has taken into the villain role of the NBA for sometime, but this was the first time he has lashed out at fans like that.

The series is evenly tied

There is still a lot to play for in the series. Nets have the team to make a comeback and will test the Celtics. However, they need to ensure that Kyrie is not too caught up in the moment. Kevin Durant alone might not be enough to beat their opponents. If the Nets are out in the first round, this season will be an overall disappointment. Because the team had championship aspirations when the season started.
