The New York Knicks towered over the Golden State Warriors in a 38-point victory on Tuesday night. This marked the 8th straight win for the Knicks, the longest current win streak in the NBA, leaving their fans elated. The situation in the Warriors camp, however, is the polar opposite. This loss was not only embarrassing for many fans, but it also worsened their on-the-road record this season. The defending champions are now 3-15 away from home and with the absence of Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and others, things look bleak for the Warriors.

The Knicks put up an all-round performance led by Immanuel Quickley’s 22 points and Jalen Brunson’s 21 points. Throughout the game, the Knicks left no space for the Warriors to administer a comeback. Despite having the likes of Draymond Green, Jordan Poole, and Klay Thompson on the hardwood, the Warriors looked deflated. After coming off a victory against the Toronto Raptors, a 38-point loss is painful. This was seen as the Warriors’ bench looked blue, a sight foreign to the NBA community.

Deflated Warriors make fans hide in embarrassment

Fans were quick to react to this defeat online. Disappointment echoed through each reaction. Some fans were in disbelief that the defending champions lost to the Knicks (who they addressed as a poverty franchise). A common narrative seen was the claim that the Warriors dynasty has officially come to an end.

Additionally, fans believed that if Stephen Curry was going to miss the playoffs, then it would be an embarrassment to his legacy. Others pointed out that the Warriors looked like amateurs.

Here are some of the reactions from NBA Twitter:

An update on Stephen Curry

Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry was injured on the initial part of the Warriors’ road trip. He is expected to return in the latter part of January 2023. With that said, the two-time MVP gave fans an update on his situation. In an interview with TNT, he highlighted that he is still in the initial stages of the healing process. He said, “I’m nowhere near picking up a basketball yet. It’ll be a few weeks.”

The Warriors are now banking on Jordan Poole to make a Curry-like impact on the team and it seems the Finals MVP is banking on Poole as well. Curry’s focus while pushing himself through the healing process is to help Joran Poole. The aim is to ensure that Poole is looking at the game “the right way”.

Following this, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke to the media about the loss against the Knicks. He said, “We sank tonight. We’re trying to hang in there and we will. Another game tomorrow.”
