The Golden State Warriors are only one night’s sleep away from their Game 2 encounter against the Sacramento Kings. Down 0-1 in the series, the Warriors will hunt for the all-important road win. However, just as Stephen Curry and his troops prepare for the upcoming battle, they could be hit with a major injury setback that would diminish their chances of overcoming their division rivals.

The Athletic‘s Anthony Slater came through with disheartening news about Jordan Poole, and it is the last thing the Warriors would have wanted. Poole averaged 20.4 points in the regular season and plays a massive role coming off from the bench.

Poole initially hurt his ankle while driving to the rim in Game 1. The Warriors guard was able to finish the game, but the aftermath isn’t one the reigning champions would have imagined. According to Slater, the organization has listed the 23-year-old as ‘questionable’ for game 2 against the Kings.

“Jordan Poole is questionable for Game 2 tomorrow night in Sacramento. He rolled his left ankle on a drive last night. Was icing it postgame,” Slater wrote on Twitter.

The 23-year-old is a huge part of the Warriors’ offense. Playing all 82 regular season games, he averaged a career-high in points. In Game 1 against the Kings, Poole added 17 points and 3 assists off the bench. The 2022 NBA champion is the primary backup guard for Stephen Curry. He has proven over a stretch of games that he is capable of being the primary ball handler and a first-option scorer while on the floor.
