The Los Angeles Lakers’ season got off to a poor start, as they slumped to a loss against Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors. With a revamped setup, LeBron James and co. started brilliantly, remaining in control for about three quarters. However, when it rained, it poured. The team was left rattled in Q4, being totally outplayed by their opposition. Following the disappointing outing, former player and analyst Paul Pierce has made a bold statement on the current Lakers squad.

Last season, the Lakers were nowhere near the expectations. For the most part, LeBron James and Anthony Davis did most of the work, without much support. Lakers fans frustrated as Paul Pierce makes bold comparison of current side

Way back in 2003-04, the Lakers made it to the Finals. But it wasn’t the usual domination from Kobe Bryant’s side, and injuries caused huge problems for them. Karl Malone and Gary Payton were Kobe’s brothers in arms then, and the team fell short of the title. As per a recent report, Celtics legend Paul Pierce has made a slightly negative comparison of the current LA team to the one in 2003-04.

“This team is really giving me that Karl Malone, Gary Payton when they were with Kobe, that kind of feel,” laid out Pierce. The comments did not fit well, as Lakers fans hit out at the 10-time All-star on social media. While one fan quite literally told Paul to “stfu”, another fan claimed, “Gary Payton ain’t Westbrook. Karl Malone ain’t Anthony Davis. Carmelo Anthony is ten times better than they were at the same age. He a straight hater.” Take a look.
