The Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas beef was real. Jordan was leading a Chicago Bulls team that went up against the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons of the 1980s. Between 1988 and 1990, Jordan was unable to defeat Isiah and the Pistons. And everyone knows how much Michael Jordan hated losing. The Pistons and the Bulls were always in contention for that Eastern Conference winner spot. Jordan lost to Isiah twice and then arguably completely overpowered him for the next decade.

Jordan’s beef with Isiah was built over time. In his documentary, ‘The Last Dance’, Jordan mentioned how Isiah and the rest of the Pistons ran to their locker rooms after Jordan finally defeated them in 1991. Another reason why Jordan seemingly hates Isiah is that he is one of the few players the GOAT has a losing record against. Isiah has won 12 out of the 22 match-ups the two had in the regular season.

Moreover, the origin of the beef has recently come to light again. Apparently, The All-Star game of 1985 began the feud between the two legends. According to Jordan, Isiah tried to freeze Jordan out of the game. Isiah denied such claims later and refuted any claims of the feud. Jordan and Isiah’s rivalry has survived for almost 40 years. According to Isiah, Jordan never took a liking to him and asked for him to be left out of the “Dream Team”.

Michael Jordan calls Isiah Thomas for starting the feud

The two legends have had some great battles on the court. The beef however has translated to their lives outside the NBA. The bitter feud has just been reignited as Isiah has responded to Jordan’s accusations about the 1985 All-Star game.

Isiah said,?“Stop lying this story is not factual or accurate, tell the truth man. Dr.J, Moses Malone, Larry Bird, Sidney Moncrief and I did not freeze you out. If memory serves me correct I was injured most of the second half and Bird had a broken nose. Magic and Sampson dominated the game.”

The story Isiah is referring to is written by Inquisitr?and revolves around an interview Michael Jordan gave in 1992. The interview is with Playboy magazine where Jordan originally commented on the game.

Michael Jordan said,?“If you go back and look at the film, you can see that Isiah was actually doing that. Once it started getting around that he was freezing me out, that?s when the ill feelings started to grow between us.”?

Interestingly, Isiah Thomas coached Michael Jordan in his last All-Star game! Jordan had parted ways with the Chicago Bulls and joined the Washington Wizards for his last stint of basketball.

Why is Isiah Thomas still caught up in the beef?

Since the?‘The Last Dance’?documentary came out, Jordan has stayed out of the media attention. Essentially, Jordan is a private person and he lives his life without feuding on social media. With these words being brought back, it makes sense for Isiah to clear the air. The Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas has likely been overshadowed by Jordan’s greatness.
