Following her release in December 2022, fans of the Phoenix Mercury star are eagerly waiting for her WNBA comeback. With the season still some months away, people have already started to debate her return. Recently, eminent comedian Andrew Schulz and television personality Charlamagne Tha God sat down to discuss Griner.

Comedian Andrew Schulz was one of the biggest critics of the Joe Biden administration for trying to bring back Griner from Russia. Recently, he chimed in on the Griner debate again. On The Brilliant Idiots podcast, Schulz and Charlamagne gave their two cents.
Charlamagne said, “Brittney Griner is officially back in the WNBA, ya’ll still not gonna watch. Ya’ll motherf***ers ain’t shit, ya’ll rallied around Brittney Griner, BG got freed, the ratings in the WNBA did not spike at all and I will be highly upset if she comes back to Phoenix. Two things! If she comes back to the Phoenix Mercury and that game isn’t on prime time, on one of the major sports networks, that’s f***ed up.”
Moreover, Charlamagne also asserted that people only care about ratings rather than the fact that it is Griner’s first game after returning home.
Additionally, he also claimed that if people really cared about BG’s plight, they need to show support for her line of work. According to Charlamagne, fans need to make the WNBA a profitable business by supporting it. Once the league is profitable enough, the athletes will be paid fairly and as a result, they don’t need to take their talents abroad.
