The Boston Celtics’ game 3 against the Philadelphia 76ers got a little scary in the fourth quarter. The game ended 102-114 in a win for the Celtics. However, an incident occurred during the fourth quarter that shocked people. Despite the Celtics registering a lead of 2-1 in the Conference Semifinal, Joel Embiid losing balance after a foul and landing on Grant Williams’s head grabbed all the headlines. The 2023 MVP continued his excellent form in game 3 as well. He dropped 30 points with 13 rebounds but could not save his team from the loss.

Even though it was not Embiid’s fault, his accidental stomp on Williams’s head scared many. Joining the long list of concerned people, Brown relived his version of the incident during a press conference.

Jaylen Brown talked to the reporters after the game, detailing the scare he experienced witnessing the incident live. When Grant Williams went for the loose ball which was a pass to Embiid, he ended up fouling the MVP which made him lose his balance. As Embiid went down, Williams and Brown were already on the floor as they dove for the ball. Embiid landed foot first at the back of Williams’s head and his face hit the floor hard. With only a few minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Celtics forward had to be taken off the court for inspection. No serious harm was reported, although Williams was bleeding from his mouth.

Brown addressed the incident after the game. He termed it “the craziest thing that I’ve seen on a basketball court.” Brown said that it is even more scary for him since he witnessed it all unfold. “I saw Grant get his head stepped on by a 300-pound individual,” Brown said about the incident.

Williams also talked about his injury after the game. Although he was bleeding from the incident, he admitted that it is part of the game and there can’t be any hard feelings. Williams and Embiid even talked it out on the court shortly after the incident.

Grant Williams agreed that such things happen when players are going for the ball. He also said that Joel Embiid was not at fault since he was falling uncontrollably. “Dang, I really got curb stomped,” he said while talking about the experience he had. The 2023 MVP apologized to Williams after the incident and the two left the arena with no hard feelings.
