Stephen Curry’s Mother Sonya Made Honest Abortion Confession After 3 Decades of Raising Him: “It’s Okay That You Are Struggling”

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is widely regarded as one of the greatest NBA stars ever. However, there was a chance we might have never seen him in action. Steph Curry’s mother Sonya Curry recently opened up on a very sensitive and difficult topic. She revealed that she had considered an abortion at one point of time during her pregnancy.

During a recent interview, she talked about her memoir ‘Fierce Love’. In the memoir, she wrote about her abortion prior to getting pregnant again. Moreover, she considered getting an abortion once again. She decided against doing that and gave birth to one of the greatest athletes ever.

Stephen Curry belongs to an elite family of athletes. His father Dell Curry was an NBA superstar and his younger brother has also made it into the NBA. Moreover, his mother, Sonya, pursued basketball and volleyball in college.

During a recent interview, Sonya talked about her hardships while she was pregnant with Steph. In her memoir, she revealed that she got an abortion before giving birth to her first child. Following up on similar lines, Sonya elaborates on this sensitive issue and reaches out to people.

Sonya said, “For me to be able to share that story for people to know, one, so many people are struggling with it, and it’s OK. It’s OK that you are struggling with it.”

She further added, “Two, the decision that I made to keep him at that point is also counter with the decision that I made to not carry through with the previous pregnancy.” Interestingly enough, she let Steph know about the hardships she underwent in order to make him realize what the real world is all about.

Sonya and Dell Curry are proud parents of three children. They have two sons, Stephen Curry and Seth Curry, and their youngest child is their daughter Sydel Curry. Despite being married for quite some time, they have had problems in their marriage.

Back in 2021, the two filed for divorce after being married for more than three decades. One of the biggest reasons behind their failed marriage were accusations of infidelity. Dell accused Sonya of cheating on him with one of his college batchmates while Sonya accused Dell of frequent infidelity.
