In the Fox 5 New York interview, Sonya shed light on what it was for her to grow up in rural Virginia. As Sonya puts it, she often felt like a misfit among her Black friends and her White friends as a light-skinned girl who was into sports. “Where do I fit in all of this? And what am i good at? What am I supposed to be doing? What is going to be my purpose? I have always thought about that, even as a young child,” Sonya Curry said.
Having battled all these odds as a child, Sonya made sure that life was no bed of roses for her children as well. Once, however, when she was being strict with her daughter, Sonya had heard sharp and hurtful words from Sydel.
