Stephen Curry, as an NBA player, has now achieved everything. He is a four-time NBA champion, two-time league MVP, and due to his epic Finals performance this year, he is also a Finals MVP. The greatest shooter in basketball history has etched his name in the history books now. Curry, after clinching his fourth title, had a message for the likes of Michael Jordan, “What are they gon? say now?”
Complex recently interviewed him after being announced as the host of the ESPYs. He’s got nothing to prove now to anyone anymore. The man was publically “disrespected” by Jordan himself in an interview in 2019.

MJ was asked to select a team for a pickup game. He chose Scottie Pippen, Hakeem Olajuwon, James Worthy, and Magic Johnson as his teammates. The interviewer enquired Jordan about Stephen Curry not being selected for his team and would he be offended about that.
Jordan thought he should not be offended. He said, “I hope not. He’s still a great player. Not a Hall of Famer yet, though.” It was a kind of a controversial comment even then. Jordan ignored everything Curry had won. The point guard was already a three-time champion and a two-time regular season MVP. He is among the very few players to join the 50-40-90 club.

He already was considered a “revolutionary” in terms of how he played as a point guard. His focus on shooting threes changed the game entirely. Three-point shooting has become one of the main offensive weapons of any great team now. Curry and coach Steve Kerr were at the forefront of this change.

Jordan couldn’t acknowledge it at that time. After all, it’s his opinion. Anybody could have differing opinions regarding Steph’s legacy on the game. But Steph revealed something else behind Jordan’s opinion of him.

Steph did later comment on these words. He said earlier that MJ might have muddled up his words and if you ask him the question straight up then, he would have a different tune. Later on, he talked to Jordan about it. Curry revealed that the Today Show edited the interview. Jordan later told him that he thinks Curry to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
It’s a great compliment to Steph’s abilities. Jordan’s opinion was nuanced as found out, in the end. This year, he has nothing else to prove. A Finals MVP and fourth NBA title rest all doubts. He also broke Ray Allen’s three-point record back in December and has scored 3117 three points in his career.
