The defending champions Golden State Warriors are going through a rough patch this season. Despite Stephen Curry’s brilliance, the Warriors have a 14-15 record, with five wins and losses each in their last ten games. Thus, the Warriors seemed to lack the consistency they would need to win back-to-back championships in the league. Back in October, Stephen Curry used a five-word statement from Deion Sanders to make a bold claim about the struggling Warriors.

The Warriors recently lost their 15th game of the 2022-23 season against the seventh-ranked Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference. The Warriors are one of the best shooting teams in the NBA. Despite the offensive heavy approach, the Warriors score merely 28 points in the second quarter and gave away 47 points in defense against the Pacers.
Despite a defensive comeback in the third quarter, the Warriors felt short by six points during a 125-119 loss. Therefore, Stephen Curry, who made a big claim about the Warriors in October, seems to be in a tough spot as of now.
Stephen Curry made bold claims about the Warriors
The Warriors guard made a guest appearance during the pre-season game between Golden State and Portland in October. One of the commentators asked Curry what his motivations and plans were for the 2022-23 season after winning last season. Stephen Curry responded by asking the commentators if they had seen Deion Sanders’ interview in which the NFL legend made a statement about motivation.
Curry referred to Sanders’ interview in which the two-time Super Bowl champ said, “Don’t need that extra motivation.”
Curry used Deion Sanders’ five-word statement to imply that the Warriors were already motivated to go after another championship this season. Moreover, Steph Curry reckoned that Sanders had said it much better than he did.
