Although Curry didn’t tend towards his usual scoring-based gameplay, he dished out 14 assists against the Trail Blazers. In fact, he played the pivotal playmaking role that Draymond Green usually takes care of. In light of his performance against the Blazers, Curry made a few statements after the game, which appeared to contain a subtle warning towards Devin Booker’s Phoenix Suns, and Ja Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies.

Stephen Curry’s Post Game Statements

Upon earning the win against the Blazers, Curry spoke to Allie LaForce, explaining his performance in the game and the Warriors’ aim for the season. Curry started off by explaining that his role has changed in the absence of Draymond and said that the win was a good start to the season’s second half.

Thereafter, when questioned about how ‘encouraged’ he was with the team’s win, he had the following to say.

“Very encouraged. I think defensively we asserted our will after the first quarter. Really understood how to get stops and turn it into easy offense,” said Curry.

“We just want to keep building. Like I said, it’s 22 games left to be our best selves come playoff time,” he added.

It indicated that the Warriors had clear intentions of doing whatever it takes to win the title.

Compared to his dominant 50 point performance in the All-Star Game, Steph dished out 14 assists in the win over Portland. In fact, these 14 assists were a major reason behind why seven Warriors players finished the game with at least 10 points. Clearly, Curry’s leadership, playoff experience, scoring, and playmaking are going to be vital for a championship run. Evidently, with him on the squad, the sky is the limit for the Warriors.
