Stephen Curry added to his legacy as an all-time great after he won the Finals MVP for the first time last time. The Golden State Warriors won their 4th championship in eight years to cement themselves as a dynasty. While the Warriors won their title over a month back, Curry has kept himself busy through the summer.

The 34-year-old hosted the 30th edition of the ESPYs on July 20 in Los Angeles. Curry became only the second NBA player to host the award show after LeBron James in 2007. As most hosts do, Steph came prepared and roasted some people, including LeBron.

Stephen Curry made sure to remind everyone that LeBron James hosted the award show in 2007. He said, “I’m the second NBA player to host this award show, which is kind of crazy to think about”. The Golden State Warriors star then proceeded to mention one specific difference from James.

James’ Cleveland Cavaliers had lost to the San Antonio Spurs in 2007 in his 4th year in the league. Curry finished the statement by stating how his version of the ESPYs was better than LeBron’s.

He said, “So yeah, you guessed it, this feels better“. This left the crowd in splits. As soon as Curry finished his sentence, the camera cut to his Warriors teammates, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, who could be seen enjoying themselves at the expense of the King.

The Warriors were awarded the ‘Best Team’ award over other major sports champions. Curry himself won two awards at the ceremony. Along with being named the ‘Best NBA Player’, Curry also won the ‘Best Record-Breaking Performance’ award for passing Ray Allen for most three-pointers made in NBA history.

Meanwhile, his Warriors teammate Klay Thompson won the ‘Best Comeback Athlete’ award after missing 941 days due to back-to-back serious injuries. It was a great night for all the Warriors fans and one they’ll remember for quite some time.
