The Los Angeles Lakers had an extremely tumultuous 2022-23 NBA season. After a weak start, the Lakers managed to defy all odds to make it to the Western Conference Finals. Unfortunately, the Lakers lost to this year?s eventual NBA champions, the Denver Nuggets. Now, the future of Los Angeles may seem bleak as adding a third-star player to the team?s roster may not happen this offseason, leading the team to face heat online.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis did a great job keeping the Lakers afloat. The trade to bring D?Angelo Russell in exchange for Patrick Beverley did help the team, but not enough to win it all. And now, it looks like Lakeshow will have to make do with the roster they have on their hands.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers may have been able to make strides this past season. However, for the team to pull off another deep run like the one they had may be easier said than done. Anthony Davis suffered constant injuries that kept him on the bench for a fair amount of time, whereas, LeBron James turned 38 last season. And even though James has barely shown signs of slowing down, it will happen sooner or later.
So, the news of the Los Angeles Lakers not pursuing another star like Kyrie Irving or Bradley Beal to form a new big three did not sit well with fans. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, ?There?s no big game hunting out there for this Laker organization.?
The salary cap of the Lakers organization does not allow them to take on another huge contract, leaving them no chance to afford another star via free agency. And with the way the West has been turning out so far, the Lakers surely could use more help.
Lakers fans are not happy with the news update
Diehard Lakers fans were certainly not happy with the news of the Los Angeles front office not making moves to add another big name to the team. One fan tweeted, ?Good, stay in the basement.?

While there were plenty who were enraged, a lot of fans in the comments section saw this as a win. Given that the Los Angeles Lakers made it to the Western Conference Finals with the current roster, a few fans believe that adding another star to the mix may not be the way to go.
