NBA legend Michael Jordan has multiple business ventures under his belt currently. Not only is he one of the greatest basketball players ever, but he has also achieved the billionaire status. Interestingly, it seems Jordan was his polar opposite when he was younger. In the ‘Michael Jordan-The Life’ book, the Chicago Bulls legend’s childhood has been covered extensively.

In an excerpt from the book, MJ’s father James Jordan criticizes his son’s lazy attitude. In fact, he also asserted how the six-time NBA champion would always remain broke.

A young Michael Jordan had no idea how successful he would turn out to be one day. For that reason, he was quite lazy and would always procrastinate.

James Jordan, who was brutally murdered and left a deep impact on his son, once revealed the reason why his son was always broke. Michael Jordan was just lazy! In fact, his father was sure he would give all of his money to others in order to complete his work.

“That’s the laziest boy I’ve ever seen, James Jordan would say time and again. If he had to get a job in a factory punching a clock, he’d starve to death. He would give every last dime of his allowance to his brothers and sisters and even kids in the neighborhood to do his chores. He was always broke”, said Jordan’s late father in the book.

Despite his laziness, MJ was a different person on the court. All of his laziness turned into competitiveness and zeal whenever His Airness laced up.

Irrespective of whether someone is well-versed in the sport of basketball or not, Jordan is a name that resonates with millions around the world. The ‘Air Jordan’ brand generates around $3.1 billion yearly which contributes to most of Jordan’s wealth.

Moreover, he also has a majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets, which competes in the Eastern Conference of the NBA. Additionally, the NBA Hall of Famer is also the owner of the 23XI NASCAR team. Last but not the least, the NBA legend has multiple other investments which make him one of the highest-earning sporting personalities.
