The NBA Summer League is going on in full bloom at the moment. The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to bounce back this season. Likewise, it all starts with the young stars. Facing off against the Charlotte Hornets, the big names all came in today. The likes of Floyd Mayweather and Scottie Pippen came to catch some of the action.

After a below-par season, the Lakers need all they can get. They don’t have much room to sign any big players without letting go of their point guard Russell Westbrook. While the trade talks with Kyrie Irving keep taking turns, the purple and gold need to take their talents as well. And the Summer League plays a huge part in it.

In their matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, some Lakers players and other famous personalities came in to experience the double-overtime thriller.

Lakers get big names for Summer League clash

The Lake Show played their second summer league game in Las Vegas. After an impressive 2-0 start to their journey, they have now lost three straight games. Going into double overtime, the Hornets stole the game in the end moments to crush the purple and gold.

Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen checked in to see his son ball out for the Lakers. In addition, Floyd Mayweather also wanted to see some Summer League action. Austin Reaves, Loonie Walker IV, and other Lakers were also present for the game. Despite the loss, they got a show from both sides.

The first quarter was painted in gold as they took a 31-18 lead. However, they dropped every single quarter from there. Sharpshooter Cole Swider was the star once again scoring 21 points on 60% shooting. Pippen Jr. had a rare offensive slump scoring 10 points on just 4-15. The Hornets capitalized on the Los Angeles Lakers‘ struggles and dragged the game into double overtime. Eventually, Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets came out victorious and gave the Lake show another disappointing loss.
