Andrej Stojakovic, son of former NBA champion, Peja Stojakovic has made up his mind regarding college commitment.

The 2023 five-star recruit has decided to play college basketball for Stanford. But the fans are unimpressed with his decision. They have shot it down and come to the conclusion that he may not be as good.

In September 2022, Andrej shortlisted four colleges for their basketball programs. Oregon, Texas, UCLA, and Stanford were the names on his college selection list. He ruled out Virginia and Duke from the list as per reports.

Stojakovic admitted that each school had been trying to vet him. They had been encouraging him to come on board. He looked at Stanford as a program that could take him beyond basketball.

Before making the decision, Andrej Stojakovic had visited all four colleges. He is ranked No.24 in the ESPN 100 for the next year’s class. The NBA world was delighted to see glimpses of his father in his performances. His scoring and passing ability are as sharp as his off-the-ball movement and spacing.

His father, Peja Stojakovic was a 3x All-Star. He was best known to be part of the Sacramento Kings. However, he got his championship ring when he played for the Dallas Mavericks.

Stanford is gleeful at having got a 5-star recruit like Stojakovic. They also boast of getting another player, Kanaan Carlyle who plays for the Overtime Elite.

But are the fans right to dismiss his decision? Stanford Cardinal didn’t match much of the expectations for last season. In fact, they finished at .500 or below in Pac-12 basketball. Their past seasons haven’t shown much progress either.

They haven’t made an appearance in the Big Dance for almost a decade. Stanford basketball would look to improve with what seems to be a good team. Now, with Andrej at its core, fans can expect the team to do more. Fans can also expect Stojakovic maximizes his potential and not let it go to waste.
