Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner is all over the news for all the unfortunate reasons. After spending a long time in a Russian prison, she finally got a decision regarding her situation.
The court convicted Griner of all the charges pressed against her and sentenced her to jail for 9 years. This came after Russian officials arrested Griner earlier this year after they found her guilty of possessing illegal substances.

Needless to say, celebrities from all around the world have spoken about this issue. While some support Griner, some feel the Government should let her serve her sentence.
NBA star Stephen Curry is not one to shy away from giving his opinions on social issues. The same can be said for Griner’s case as he let his thoughts known during an interview.

Curry said, “It’s beyond the sports world at this point, but myself and all of [Griner’s] colleagues have spoken very loudly that we need to continue to keep her name in the media and make sure that she feels loved and supported.”
He added, “Today is not a great day, obviously, but I think that there are other conversations that are going on and hopefully we will still have a safe and speedy return for her. The right people are feeling the pressure and I’m hoping that it works out right for BG.”
This is not the first time Curry has spoken about Brittney Griner and her grim situation. Moreover, he is also not the only NBA star to speak out regarding Griner.

Safe to say, WNBA star Brittney Griner has made headlines all around the world. The former Olympic Gold Medalists’ recent verdict has urged stars of the NBA world to speak out. Stars like Kyrie Irving, Bam Adebayo, Grant Williams, and Jusuf Nurkic took to Twitter to show their support for Griner.
