While growing up in New Jersey, Towns didn’t have a lot of money as a kid. So his family would often go to Pizza Hut, where he would spend his time playing games like Marvel vs. Capcom. The employees at Pizza Hut would even give him quarters to play games while he waited for his food. This early exposure to gaming sparked a lifelong love of video games for Towns.

The Minnesota star’s interest and love for video games grew more as he became older. He even became a fan of the Call of Duty series. More recently, he has gotten into the battle royale genre with games like PUBG.

In fact, he’s such a big fan of gaming that he considers himself to be one of the best gamers in the NBA. Towns has proclaimed gaming as a way to connect with his teammates during the offseason. Even when they’re not able to see each other in person, they can still play games together online.

The three-time NBA All-Star is such a huge fan of video gaming that he spent a humongous amount on building a gaming PC for himself. He reportedly spent $20,000 on a custom-built computer designed by a team of tech YouTubers.

The computer features top-of-the-line components and is capable of running even the most demanding games at the highest settings. In a video shared by Rebound on YouTube, Towns can be seen screaming “What the hell!!” in excitement, after seeing his new gaming PC for the first time.
