How does one guard Stephen Curry? Use the double-team strategy or come at him from all corners? The solution to this is usually a hit or a miss since a concrete plan is yet to be cracked. However, if you need to invest your team’s defensive resources to guard two Steph Currys, then the fate of that game is pretty much decided before the jump.
With that said, Curry’s teammate Jordan Poole recently expressed a similar sentiment. The rising star claimed that he’s receiving the Steph Curry treatment from opposing teams, and NBA fans were quick to call him out on it.

Earlier in the year, NBA Champion Matthew Dellavedova opened up about guarding the two-time MVP. He said, “No one person can stop [Curry]. He’s just so hard to guard because he never stops moving.??A majority of the league seems to resonate with Dellavedova’s thoughts.
Meanwhile, Jordan Poole recently told The Athletic, ?How people are guarding Steph in the first unit is how they?re guarding me in the second unit. When we’re not in the court together, I get the same coverage as he gets.? Poole strongly believed that teams use the same defense strategy on both point guards. This claim didn’t sit well among NBA fans.
Jordan Poole bared the brunt of fans after his Stephen Curry comment
After Jordan Poole’s statement reached the NBA Twitter feed, fans were quick to call out Poole. The most common tweets revolved around fans telling Poole that he isn’t being guarded like ‘the Chef’. One tweet, in particular, said, “Someone needs to humble this dude, you are not Steph Curry.”
People claimed that Poole has lost his mind for even remotely himself to the four-time NBA champion. Many even reminded the 2022 NBA champion that he is still a player coming off the bench. Hence, to play or be treated like the two-time MVP would be next to impossible. Here are some of the best reactions.

Lol no player in the league gets the amount of defensive attention as Steph, and even if he thought he did.. it’s against bench players so it’s not the same level of defenders

This isnt true. The best defender who guards curry is usually sitting when curry is off the court. Lets say poole gets the walmart version of curry's defensive coverage

Fans showed no mercy trolling the 23-year-old phenom for his remarks. However, there’s no denying that Poole has established himself as a genuine threat on the offensive end for the Dubs.
Jordan Poole’s season so far
The young Warriors star has had an underwhelming start to the season. Apart from a handful of good games, Poole has made around 29 three-point shots while attempting over 100 ones. Warriors coach Steve Kerr has commented on Poole’s situation. He said, “I just think he?s been in a rush this year. I think he?s trying too hard. I think he has to slow down a little bit.”??

During the playoffs, last season, Jordan Poole’s contribution was vital for the Warriors. He shot 50.8% from the floor with an average of 17.8 points per game. The buzz around his name grew immensely. So when the 2022-23 season started, people expected big things from the shooting guard. However, he’s yet to do justice to those expectations this season.
Poole’s teammate Klay Thompson advised him to lean on his teammates. This is something Poole could benefit from because Stephen Curry and the other Warriors have been through similar trials over the years.
