Being a billionaire and one of the richest athletes ever has its perks. One of these perks is having an ownership stake in one of the biggest football clubs in the world. Likewise, 4x NBA champion LeBron James dipped his toes in the lucrative world of soccer when he brought a minority stake in Liverpool FC in 2011. Incidentally, the Los Angeles Lakers forward has entered into a new collaboration with the club.

The iconic century-old England club is undergoing another management change. Fenway Sports Group, the current owner, remains in talks with potential investors over minority and majority investment in Liverpool; after it emerged last month that a sale was being sought. However, this didn’t stop King James from further advancing his partnership with the club with a new collaboration.
LeBron James and Nike collaborate on a legacy project for Liverpool FC
It’s no secret that LeBron James is a big soccer fan. Honoring his fandom, LeBron James, leveraging his decade-long partnership with Nike, is coming out with some hot merchandise. The merchandise mentioned above is a fresh pair of Nike Air Max 1’s, entitled ‘LeBron x Nike Air Max 1 Liverpool‘. With the uber-popularity of the Air Max line of shoes, Liverpool fans are in for a treat.
According to fashion magazine GQ, the shoe will be released in December and will feature all colors associated with Liverpool in the forms of red, green, white, and black. The shoe also features FSG’s initials on the left heel and ‘You Never Walk Alone’ – the iconic anthem of the Reds on the right heel. Moreover, the insides of the shoe boast the logos of Liverpool FC and the King’s brand.

Over the years, James has amassed a fortune through prudent investments and successful partnerships. Despite being an active player in the NBA, the King has an ownership stake in some of the biggest sports franchises in the world. His minority stake in the FSG has made him a part-owner of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park stadium, and NHL franchise Pittsburgh Penguins, as well as half of Roush Fenway Racing and 80% of the New England Sports Network.

James’s enhanced involvement with the FSG comes on the back of a deal made over a decade ago. James acquired a minority stake of 2% in Liverpool for $6.5 Million. But, over the years, the King and his business partner Maverick Carter have converted their stake in LFC for a 1% share of the parent group FSG.
