It was 2004 when the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons faced off. A single incident in that game would change the NBA forever. After a Ron Artest foul, Ben Wallace’s shove began the whole incident. It escalated from team members chirping to Artest rushing into the stands to fight the fans. Something similar took place today in the EuroLeague playoffs.
Fans have heard it before, EuroLeague basketball is much different compared to the NBA. Many stars of the league even hail from the league. Luka Doncic, a headline talent first shot into popularity when he won MVP honors wearing a Real Madrid jersey. However, while he might have had some heated moments, he never could have imagined such a violent incident to break out.
It was a playoff battle between Real Madrid and Partizan. With the stakes high, the aura was intense. Madrid, who had already lost the first game were down 15 to their opponents. That is when one of their players committed a hard foul on a dribble. On first look, it seemed to be a harmless face-off. A few seconds later, punches were being thrown, players suplexed, and both benches emptied ready to fight.

That was also the last bit of basketball for the game. The officials had a long list of disqualifications to hand. The count was so high that no team even had the minimum number of players left to compete. What’s more crazy you ask? Only two players are required to continue the game.
The league called off the contest because of the melee. Partizan were handed the win and they went up 2-0 in the EuroLeague playoffs. Former NBA player Dante Exum was also part of the brawl and apparently suffered a leg injury.
