Stephen Curry is one of the biggest superstars in the NBA today. His three-point shooting has literally changed the game in a way that teams now value shooting to a greater extent than they did before. Moreover, he is even considered by many as the greatest shooter of all time.

Like all the stars in professional sports, Curry has also partnered with a sports apparel company. However, with most athletes choosing to sign with big names like Nike, Curry took a different route. After Nike’s botched meeting with Curry, the latter decided to partner with Under Armour.

Like Curry, several athletes from other sports have parted ways with Nike. One such athlete is Simone Biles. The American gymnast, who once wanted to babysit for Curry, is now in partnership with Athleta and revealed the reason behind why she chose a different brand over Nike, as Curry did.
Simone Biles Follows Stephen Curry
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Biles revealed why she partnered with Athleta.
“I felt like it wasn’t just about my achievements, it’s what I stood for and how they were going to help me use my voice and also be a voice for females and kids,” said Biles.

“I feel like they also support me, not just as an athlete, but just as an individual outside of the gym and the change that I want to create, which is so refreshing,” she added.

Biles mentioned that the values that Athleta has stood for over the years are in line with hers as well. Along with Biles, even Allyson Felix has become an Athleta athlete.

Clearly, there is a shift of choice towards companies that are more suited to the athlete’s personality. Evidently, great athletes like Curry and Biles inspire people through their performances. People look up to them for inspiration. Moreover, the age of social media has brought in extra visibility. So it is important for athletes to choose brands that represent themselves and benefit society.
