The long tale of LeBron James and the playoffs is one of the most exciting chapters of the NBA. The 19-time All-Star is far from his regular-season self. James turns into a different animal, ‘The King’ as he is nicknamed. Legends of the game have admitted getting past playoff LeBron James is a grueling task. In recent years, the Los Angeles Lakers forward hasn’t had a significant run in the postseason. And it seems NBA stars are forgetting just what it is like facing him during the most important time of the season.

Reacting to a possible matchup with the Lakers in the first round, Memphis Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks didn’t hesitate in terming the challenge against James as merely a ‘test’. That was when the NBA fans had to remind him how undermining the King comes at a heavy price.

The 27-year-old Grizzlies forward walks each step with confidence. Foreseeing a Memphis dynasty, it came as no surprise Brooks spoke confidently of a Grizzlies-Lakers first-round matchup. After last season’s catastrophic failure, the Purple and Gold were in contention to make the seventh seed which would see these two franchises meet in the first round of the playoffs. Their inspiring comeback might have shook the league, but Dillon Brooks seems to have no problem with facing off against the Lakers and LeBron James.

Commenting on the matchup he said, “I wouldn’t mind playing Lebron in a seven-game series. The legacy’s thee. First time back in the playoffs, knock him out right away in the first round. It’ll test us good.”

The NBA gods seemed to have heard Brooks and honored his request. The Purple and Gold booked the 7th seed after a thrilling win against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in tournament. Unsurprisingly, LeBron James was the star of the show, not only taking over early but making arguably the biggest play of the night.

After watching the postseason from home last season, The King has announced his arrival. For the 16th time in his illustrious career, The King will be a part of the playoffs. Up for the task, the number 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies and Brooks now have the opportunity to do good on their word.

NBA Fans warn Grizzlies not to fire up The King

Dillon Brooks has made fans with his ruthless and aggressive playstyle. However, his overconfidence is a trait the NBA world has come to despise. Today was no different. ESPN’s Instagram post was full of comments asking the 27-year-old to ‘calm down’.

One fan even said it wasn’t wise for Brooks to have vengeance on LeBron James’ agenda. Warning the Memphis star, fans said, “Never the best thing to do is poke the king before y’all play.”

“Underestimating Bron and AD In 7 games. Ok”

“Stay humble, especially against Lebron”

On the other hand, some took a more brutal route and ripped apart Brooks for his optimism. They said, “This dude really thinks he’s nice”
