The 2023 NBA draft and trade rumors are now at the epicenter of most discussions in the NBA world. Just days from now, the hoops world will witness the much-awaited 2023 NBA draft. Being the 2023 NBA champions, the Denver Nuggets are arguably nowhere to be found in any discussion about the draft. However, the same cannot be said about Denver if the NBA were to re-make an iconic decades-old draft.
Recently, a 3x-NBA champion remarked that he would have gone to Nikola Jokic‘s Denver, in the event of a hypothetical re-draft. Interestingly, while choosing Denver as his potential destination, the three-time champion has ‘altered’ one of the most iconic drafts in the NBA history.

During his recent appearance on the Club Shay Shay?podcast, Miami Heat legend and 3x-NBA champion Dwyane Wade had a long and interesting conversation with NFL veteran Shannon Sharpe. Soon, the iconic 2003 NBA draft, which brought in some of the game’s greats like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade himself, among others, took center stage in the conversation. Sharpe asked Wade where he would like to go if the NBA were to redraft his class.
Dwyane Wade asked Sharpe as to what point of time the redraft would be happening. He asked if it was going to happen now as they spoke. Sharpe said yes. Shannon Sharpe pointed out how either way LeBron is going to be the first pick.
“We go back and look at everybody’s career. Where do you think you would be going?” Sharpe asked. “Where should I have went… probably to Denver,” Wade replied. “If you do it all over, I would probably go third to Denver.”

Dwyane Wade would have gone to Denver
Back in 2003, Darco Milicic was the second pick, who was selected by the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons’ pick, however, became one of the biggest upsets in NBA history. So, in the event of a re-draft, it was reasonable for both Sharpe and Wade to rule out Milicic. Therefore, Carmelo Anthony would go to Detroit. Even so, Chris Bosh was the next in line, as Bosh was then the fourth overall pick and Wade was the fifth. Dwyane Wade, however, is confident that he would have gone to Denver.
Well, he has reasons to be confident. Then, both Toronto and Miami were looking for a big man like Bosh. So that leaves Bosh joining either the Raptors or the Heat. Furthermore, Denver was then equipped with big men in their roster. Apparently, Wade indeed is likely to go to Denver in the event of a re-draft.
