The buzz around this feat has allowed fans to turn back the clock and relive some of James’ grandest plays. However, this feeling of nostalgia deepened after an announcement by Sotheby’s Auction. Sotheby’s Twitter handle wrote, “LeBron James’ game-worn jersey achieved $3.7M.” As this news made the headlines, fans found themselves in a reminiscent mood.

In game 7 of the 2013 finals between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, LeBron came in clutch. He mesmerized the NBA world with 37 points and 12 rebounds; resulting in the Heat bagging the championship title. This performance is regarded to be one of the most spectacular performances in his career.

With this in mind, in December 2022, Sotheby Auction announced that LeBron’s jersey from the iconic Game 7 of the 2013 finals was up for auction. Experts stated that the jersey could go for a price of 3-5 million dollars. As per recent updates, the jersey was sold for $3.7 million and failed to break Michael Jordan‘s record.

NBA Fans found this entire series of events to be nostalgic as they bathe in the greatness of LeBron’s performance. They claimed that the jersey deserves to be in a museum and objected to the auction. They commented on the nostalgia and wrote this ordeal was insane.

Michael Jordan’s jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 finals earned an amount of 10.8 million dollars, reported Forbes. This continues to be the highest price at which an athlete’s item has been sold. Second, in line was “Diego Maradona’s ‘Hand of God’ goal jersey” from the 1986 World Cup (9.3 million dollars).
