This NBA season has seen some major controversies from the very beginning. First, it was the Draymond Green-Jordan Poole saga that marred the reigning champions Golden State Warriors. Then the Kyrie Irving anti-semitic issue was a huge controversy and dragged on for months. It ended up changing the demography of the league with Irving and Kevin Durant leaving the Brooklyn Nets despite a massive turnaround by the team. When everything looked settled down and calm, the Ja Morant gun controversy blew up. After the incident, many have given their thoughts about it including NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

O?Neal recently gave his opinion during a segment on NBA on TNT. Now, the Los Angeles Lakers legend has again talked about the whole ordeal during his podcast.

Shaquille O’Neal is not impressed with Ja Morant

Shaquille O’Neal joined his co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams for another episode of the Big Podcast with Shaq. The controversy surrounding Ja Morant was a major talking point of the show. Shaq who recently celebrated his 51st birthday went straight to business as soon as the podcast started and talked about the issue. The four-time NBA champion reiterated his earlier observation that Ja made a choice and it should not be confused with a mistake. Shaq talked about the point guard being shirtless in a strip club after a loss. He questioned Morant’s intention behind flashing his gun on Instagram Live and noted that the high-flyer put himself in that position.

He added that it was the two-time All-Star’s fault to put himself in that position and not anyone else’s. Furthermore, O’Neal was also not convinced by Ja’s statement. Shaq said, “And then you leave an open-ended statement, ‘I gotta get help.’ Get help from what? Now you got everybody asking more questions.”

Turner noted that Morant was talking about stress. However, the 2000 NBA MVP was not ready to accept that. He replied that stress does not make one go on Live and flash one’s gun. The 15-time All-star then talked about the number of games Morant could be suspended by the NBA. Nischelle stated that the length of the suspension for carrying a gun on team premises or plane is up to the discretion of the commissioner of the NBA, Adam Silver.

Police investigation on Ja Morant

Ja Morant flashed a gun on Instagram Live while he was in a nightclub after a loss against the Denver Nuggets. It is legal to carry a gun in Colorado with some exceptions. So the police made an investigation to check if there was any crime. However, they were not able to find any evidence of any crime. Despite this, the return of Morant is still unknown as an NBA investigation is still ongoing.
