Over the years, former NBA player, Shaquille O’Neal, has made a name for himself in the league, but he is also well known for his off-the-court ventures as well. The Big Aristotle has showcased his skills as a rapper, and as an actor and even made his debut in the wrestling ring in 2016. He then got the chance to show his hosting skills during the 2019 NBA Awards.

The NBA star starts the award show with a rap song followed by a monologue where he went on to roast some of the NBA players and his ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal. Yes! you read that right. Apparently, Shaquille thought it was a good idea to roast his ex-wife on the stage of an awards show.
Shaquille O’Neal made a sly remark regarding ex-wife Shaunie
When Shaquille O’Neal hosted the 2019 NBA Awards, he took a few seconds to roast his ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal. He started by saying he lost almost 145 pounds and he did it by getting divorced. Subsequently, he went on to give the credit for his weight loss to his ex-wife, adding that she is a great housekeeper.
“I give my ex-wife credit. She’s a great housekeeper. She got to keep the house in Orlando, the house in Miami, and the house in LA.” joked the NBA legend worth $400 million, after which the audience erupted in laughter.
The court had finalized Shaq and Shaunie’s divorce in 2011. However, the couple was already going through a rough patch long before that. After staying married for 5 years, O’Neal filed for a divorce in 2007, although, the couple later reconciled. Their marriage lasted only two more years after that. This time, Shaunie filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Ever since separating from his ex-wife, the former basketball player had rarely made any comments regarding the divorce until the subject finally came up on a podcast episode. In an episode of ‘The Pivot Podcast’, Shaq talked about his divorce and said that the divorce was entirely his fault. He praised his ex-wife, adding that she was awesome and that it was all him.

“I’m glad you guys asked because I don’t mind talking about this, but I was bad. She was awesome. She really was. It was all me.”? he said on the podcast.
Furthermore, he added that he regretted the divorce and felt ‘lost’ after his then-wife and children moved out of the house. He said, even though he wasn’t married anymore, he would always ‘protect, provide and love’ his children.
