Brittney Griner has finally faced the day she had been dreading for months. The Russian court heard the appeal from Brittney Griner on October 25. The WNBA star lost the appeal and the court decided to stay with the initial verdict. Thus, Griner will now be transferred to a Russian penal colony where she will be serving a nine-year sentence under drug possession and smuggling charges.

Brittney Griner was arrested at a Moscow Airport in February after vape cartridges filled with cannabis oil were found in her luggage. After eight months of detainment, Griner has received heartbreaking news. While the whole American sports fraternity is saddened by the news, popular Australian-American writer Nick Adams has supported Brittney Griner’s sentence.
