“She Couldn’t Keep Her Eyes off of Me”: 13 Years After Divorcing Shaquille O’Neal, Ex-Wife Shaunie Found the Love of Her Life

Shaquille O’Neal‘s ex-wife Shaunie probably did not think she would ever marry a pastor until she met Keion Henderson. Shaunie O’Neal, who is now known as Shaunie Henderson, got married to Senior Pastor Henderson in a beautiful tropical ceremony held in Anguilla, over a decade after her divorce from Shaquille O’Neal. But how did they first meet? Who fell first? These are the questions that have been answered by both Shaunie and Keion multiple times. However, there always seems to be a huge disparity in the couple’s respective stories.

Much to fans’ delight, Shaunie and Keion’s wedding affair was featured in a three-part series known as Shaunie & Keion’s Destination ‘I Do’. The series follows the couple as they get through multiple obstacles in the days leading up to their destination wedding. In the show, Shaunie and Keion also shared lesser-known facts about each other and their lives.

Shaunie and Keion reach a disagreement

The first episode of Shaunie and Keion’s Destination ‘I do’ was released on November 28 2022 by VH1. In the 40-mins episode, Keion took a trip down memory lane to share the story about their first meeting. In contrast to Shaunie’s story, Keion relayed that it was the popular television personality who was awestruck upon seeing him for the first time, which gained him a baffled look from his then-fiance.

He said, “First time we met, she couldn’t keep her eyes off of me. I was a little accosted, a little uncomfortable, but I did give her a chance.” A bewildered Shaunie broke in a laughter a said, “You used a lot of aggressive word in that description.”

In response, Keion simply said that he ‘remembered it exactly that way’. Shaunie then went on to share her side of the story and said that while their first date was amazing, the ending…not so much. The Basketball Wives star revealed, “So what I remember about our first date is that he gave me a wack side hug when it was time for me to leave. A side hug? It was a disappointing end but a great date.”

Shaunie’s reveals ‘the truth’

About two months after the episode of the wedding series was released, Shaunie and Keion launched their own podcast known as ‘The Groowzone’, and in the first episode itself, Shaunie spilled the beans on their first date. The mother of five relayed that she met Keion for the first time on an impromptu date in the restaurant of the hotel he was staying in. After having a great time together, Shaunie got up to leave since it was getting late. However, Keion didn’t want her to go yet and persuaded her to stay longer.

“He said, ‘No…no…please don’t go. Not yet. I want you to stay a little longer. Just keep talking, we’re having such a good time’ and I was like, ‘No, it’s way too long and I can’t be out this late on the LA streets alone like this. That’s not safe’. He was like, ‘No please, you will be fine’,” Shaunie relayed.
